The writers use the landscape in there story and if you live anywhere close to those destinations you would know exactly what they are talking about. The freeways they use and the cities that they describe and how the city are, make you know that they are talking about parts of L.A. The environment that they describes distinguish it for other places very much so by the actives that are going on and the streets that they talk about are only in those places of the world they you would see in L.A predominantly. Both of the writers have given a good description to the readers for they to know exactly where they are talking about in L.A with a out of towners they would know about these places but a native would be able to say that is right around the corner from me or that happen just not to far me. The writers did a really good job with explaining where they are basing the stories out of through the city and streets names and the freeways and other surrounding places.

How the Detective evolves
Isnt it funny how we hate crime and crimals but when we do it ourselves we try to justify why it is ok. We think we are fighting a enemy from the outside, but yet the biggest enemy we have, we look in the mirror at him or her everyday. It is just like in the new noir which we call neo noir where the detective is looking for the crimal but ultimally is search for himself for his own identity and how he may have lost it in the process.
The difference between neo noir and film noir is that neo noir is more of the times. Neo noir keeps the fundamentals of film noir and then adds it own twist things of our time. It show a modern day noir, where race, class, gender are shown in our contemporary soceity that makes up our new noir. With the film noir, it is a outside person narrator who is telling the story about the dectective looking for a villian and with neo noir it is the dectective looking for the villian but yet they are the villian like in the movie The Boure Identity where Jason is looking for a killer but comes to find out that he is the killer.
I believe we are like that also, looking for where the problem is coming from and never even thing that we are the problem ourselves, or our own solutions to our problems. The different noirs are like the same as other things in life. That you can change the techniques but the fundatmentals never change. The neo noir is like pulling from the pass and adding a little flare and twist to the already great gerne, Which make film noir even better but ultimatley reveals to people this is what we are dealing with today not other people as villains but the villians being us and us trying to solve and figure out oursleves. Looking at the new noir it is hard to catch a villian when you dont even know it is you so search hard and long solve and catch that villian in you

Blog #4 Zero Draft Questions
All through out Double Indemnity it shows the love triangle that is between Phyllis, Walter and Keyes. With Phyllis and Walter the relationship between them is a lustful and sexual relationship with a little twist of deceitful games between the two of them. With Walter and Keyes it is like a competitive game between them but at the same time a love that have built over the years of working with each and having respect for each others skills and intuition. They have a good working relationship but a better non working relationship between each other.
It shows the love that Walter has for Phyllis and Keyes for example Walter and Phyllis killing her husband and at the same time trying to beat the system and almost getting away with it and thinking they beat the system and Keyes at the same time. But Walter having a love for Keyes by telling him what he did and had it recorded. With that recording it wasn't like Walter was just trying to give a blank confession but making it personal to Keyes by speaking directly to him in the recording. Another example of this love triangle is Walter going out of his way to help murder Phyllis's husband by risking everything, his career, his freedom, his reputation just for her and beating the system with her. But at the same time thinking highly of Keyes in the whole situation and trying to help Keyes with the case a little. Walter didn't think about anybody else when he was making out his plans he was only thinking about what Keyes would do or think and not anyone else.
On the flipside it also show what Phyllis and Keyes do and how they feel about Walter. Phyllis helped every step of the way to help Walter kill her husband, she did it for the game but at the end more for Walter. With Keyes he would share all his thoughts and feelings with Walter, he would come to his house and talk to him and share with him. Keyes also wanted to promote Walter also more off the love he had for him and how he felt about Walter.
But at the end, love either for the game or each other broke them apart through death but this true Flim Noir.
5. During the title a sequence, a man on crutches hobbles toward the camera. Explain the significance of this image. Who in the story does this man represent? Why would this be an appropriate image to show at the beginning of the film? How does this sequence anticipate later developments in the film?
In the sequence, with someone that is just watching the movie with no background in Film Noir movies, it would raise a interest or at least a curiosity to want to know what does that mean, what happen to this guy. Who is this person that is on the crutches and how did he get that way.
But even with someone that has background in watching film Noir would make them wonder what happen in this movie for the person to get in this situation again. Or how far did he go this time to try to the solve case or at least try to solve.
With the silhouette it kind of tells you the end from the beginning, but at the same time makes you wonder how did it happen this time and far did he go in the rabbit hole to get this way. If nothing else that beginning at least makes you curious to wanted watch to see how it would unfold to get to the end with the different twist and turns to get to the truth and solve the case

The Noir flim difference
The Noir flims, when they first came out where real gloomy and they have a lot of read between the line kind of things due to the time that they were in. A lot of the things that they wanted to keep underwraps and not seen that often because it was illegal back them but it is common placed in our society today. But the Noir flims in the 40s and 50s were only appericated by directors and flim students in the industry because the noir flims showed the darkside and it was something to appericated from the flim side of things because it showed the underbelly of the darkside of things that people wanted to try to look over at that time period but it was so pure in its approach to show another side of flim. The new noir flims have alot more options to bring out the flims in different ways that they couldn't do back then. But without the first noir flim era they would have not have a good base to project these new flims the way they do now in the new neo noir era. They do brings in some of the same issues but they add a lot of twist and suspense that they can add due to technology and new age thinking when it come to delivering new plots, new twist and new motives to show that old style with a modern day finesse to it which make the new movies great like the old ones and brought upon to date with the moderen times on how things are now in those kinds of movies. Even though noir flims might not all become box office hits they still have a very strong fan base that is keeping that genre alive and loved by the growing industry by the people that still love them and respect them.
